Q. What is cotillion?
A. Cotillion is a five to six week course which teaches social graces, basic etiquette and the fundamental skills of ballroom dancing to young ladies and gentlemen, second through ninth grade (depending on location).
Through the use of various dance styles and etiquette lessons, the goal of cotillion is for each student to learn courtesy, poise and dignity.
Q. What does my child need to wear?
Ladies should wear a dress or a skirt and blouse to class. For safety reasons, we ask that they do not wear backless shoes or flip flops. Please do not wear pant leggings under the dresses. If your daughter must wear something under the dress we prefer that it be tights or hose.
Short white gloves are required for those girls under the 6th grade at most cotillions. Please check under "cotillions" to see what your location requires.
Gentlemen should wear suits or blazers and dress pants, ties and dress shoes. Shirts must be tucked into the pants at all times.
50's Party
Ladies may wear poodle skirts, jeans with large white dress shirts, scarves, tennis shoes, saddle oxfords, penny loafers, letter sweaters.
Gentlemen may wear jeans, white t-shirts, bowling-type shirts, tennis shoes, penny loafers, letter sweaters or jackets or leather jackets.
Western Party
Ladies may wear jeans or denim western type skirts, western shirts, western belts and boots. No shorts, please.
Gentlemen may wear jeans, western shirts, western belts, and boots.
Q. Where can I buy gloves for my daughter?
Please note that gloves are expected to be worn by girls 5th grade and under. Not all cotillions request for gloves to be worn. Please check under "cotillions" to see if your location has a glove requirement.

Q. Does my daughter need to wear her gloves to every class?
A. Gloves are required for all classes except for the 50's and Country and Western dress up classes. Please note: not all cotillions require gloves. Please check under "cotillions" to see what your location requires.
Q. Can we take pictures or videotape our child's class?
A. Taking pictures or videotaping during class is not allowed except at the End of Season Party. In order to start classes on time, we also request that all pictures are taken after class has ended. We appreciate your cooperation.
